Stuart Hall for Boys is a private Roman Catholic school located in San Francisco, California, and is part of the Schools of the Sacred Heart network. Founded in 1887 as an independent, Catholic school, Schools of the Sacred Heart San Francisco carry on the educational mission of the Religious of the Sacred Heart. It is associated with Stuart Hall High School, Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary School and Convent of the Sacred Heart High School. The schools are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the California Association of Independent Schools and the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and receive no financial support from either the Roman Catholic Church or the Society of the Sacred Heart. ==Background and curriculum== Stuart Hall for Boys was named after Janet Erskine Stuart, a British Sacred Heart educator. Founded in 1956, it offers single-sex education in a coed community for grades K-8. The educational program is split into two divisions: the 'Lower Form' and the 'Middle Form'. In the 'Lower Form', the students study literature, language arts, social studies math, science, French, Spanish, and Latin. In the 'Middle Form', the students build upon the knowledge they acquired in the 'Lower Form'. They are additionally taught religion, computer, art, drama, music, physical education, and other foreign languages. While clearly Catholic in philosophy, the schools strive to maintain a global, ecumenical perspective enhancing the experience of all constituents including students, faculty, parents, alumni, friends, staff and administration. The curriculum and extracurricular activities recognize the unique talents and viewpoints of every individual, providing superior programs in academics, arts, athletics and community service. For its music and arts program, Stuart Hall for Boys offers a variety of choruses for students as well as a four‐school orchestra and after‐school lessons in piano, flute, violin, and guitar. Coeducational drama and musical productions are available to students in grades 6‐8.
